This would be great Chris :) :) :)

Charater sets: Aahhh okay, works with selected cons, tried it works.

The reason I've asked you about all the layer and mixer stuff is actually polish/retiming/comparing the actual animation while editing and even for editing versions of clips. These "techniques" would open a bunch of new possibilities. It works, but I'm really missing cgB for speeding up the process.

Thanks a lot for your reply,

Hey Joe,

Thanks for the thoughts. Nice to see people are using it.

* character key sets - i *think* that it copes with these already, you may just have to make a selection via the key set. may have to double check on that one.
* anim layers - SDK access to these is spotty, last time i looked (v7 ish?), so the best that i was able to do was kinda ignore them and not error out in a screaming heap.
* mixer tracks... hmmmm, tricky...

i shall have a look into some stuff if / when i get a chance...

cheers,
chrisg

Add:

Oh for the last point I mean the track in the mixer is disabled, but the original animation is existent, like preserving it by storing it but to be able to use cgB on the fcurves which come from the cons.

Hope that makes sense somehow.

Would be even cool to use it directly on the fcurves of clips, but not sure at all if it's technically possible?

Cheers

Hello Chris :)

I asked myself, if it's somehow possible to make cgbreakdown work with:

-Character sets
-Animation layers
-Animation mixer: Animation track there, like a layer, but still working on the original animation from the cons.

I'm one of these crazy SI guys @ AM (Alumni)working on my demo :)

Please let me (us) know if it's somehow possible to integrate these functions. If you don't got time/use for it please let me know, would be cool if you would allow us to reprogram the tool(?).

Later animator,

hehe yeah I should do that exercise more often, I think this is the only way to train our critical eye.

Regarding your showreel I must agree with Shannon, you should at least start the music at the very begining of the showreel but not right in the middle of the shot. I was also trying to find out where the music was coming from ;-) oh and I think you can drop the last "lantern Jaw guy" shot. I don't think it brings anything to the showreel.

Where is your 11 second entry I really liked? the one from last month I think?

Hey mate, just leaving a comment about ya reel. There's some nice stuff on there but man you have to drop that music track! It's so off putting that i struggled to focus on the acting cuz i was constantly pausing and unpausing your piece to find out if the music was on your reel or another tab in my browser or what. Someone wiser than me once said "distraction is the enemy of performance", and that music is a AAA distraction. Dialogue is fine without any other sounds. Good luck with your work mate, i can really see your progress!"

Regards,

Yeah, i figured it was a justified place to twin a little... hopefully the differences in the hand poses break it up enough.

cheers,

Hey Chris... this is looking pretty good... I don't have much time to give you a full crit :D but, I wanted to leave you two comments...
Bishop looks like he is standing on that hat... it's kind of distracting- I would restage that. Second, Brussels' look away in the beginning and his subsequent looks away don't add anything to the shot; the first one is really unnecessary in my opinion- I would start him looking at Bishop, and keep your focus over there. A look to the side is fine, but looking completely away leads your audience's eye off the page.
Just trying to help buddy... Keith
